"location_notes": "The headwaters of Galisteo Creek are on Rowe Mesa, and the creek flows roughly west for about 25 miles before emptying into the Rio Grande. The largest dense woodland along the course of the creek is in the village of Galisteo, where water flows above ground year-round, even in the worst drought conditions. More than a quarter mile of it can be accessed along a well-defined footpath. Elevation 6,040 feet.",

"location_notes": "At Los Cerrillos, Galisteo Creek flows above ground in some spots year-round. The creek bed, as much as sixty feet wide, is sand and gravel and is subject to frequent flooding during the summer monsoons. Large cottonwoods line portions of the creek, and dense vegetation along the banks includes grasses, Coyote Willow, Russian Olive, and Saltcedar (mostly dead or dying).
